Your Why Can Be A Why Not
For 1000′s of years generation after generation have been looking for their mission, their passion, their reason for being here. What are we supposed to do, what is it that drives me. In Network Marketing we call it your WHY. I’ve spent years speaking to organization around the globe on this topic and I have met only a handful of people who really knew their WHY.
So for those that are having trouble finding, defining what their passion is, I ask them well what would you NOT want? Sometimes the best way to find something that is difficult to find, you start with what you don’t want to find. I refer to it as “the bleep”. Maybe some of you remember the movie that came out some years ago with the title “What the ‘bleep’”. It was a movie that talked about how our thoughts can effect our environment and how we are creators of what we see.
Well in the movie they talked about sometimes you can look in a draw or a cabinet, and the thing you are looking for is not there. Yet when someone else walks over to the draw and they pull out the exact item you were looking for, you swear it wasn’t there just a minute ago.
This is what happens when we are looking for our WHY. It’s always there, it’s just we don’t see it. A great industry that helps people to work on their WHY is Network Marketing. For all intense in purpose, MLM is a personal development industry with a lucrative pay plan wrapped around it.. well in most cases. That topic is for another post.
When people “sign up” for Personal Development
The reason personal development fails, is for 1 main reason. People fail to development! Let me see if I can explain what I’m trying to say here. People take a 12 month course maybe longer, and in that time they learn so much about themselves, how to focus on the target points to make themselves better. The training is amazing, the new activities you wind up doing bring great awareness to the weaknesses and strengths you posses.
What I don’t see, is the conversation with the customer about “is it alright to change”? I can get anyone to get up early, eat healthy, and exercise. What I can’t do is keep them doing it, if they have not already made the commitment in their mind. When challenge present themselves and you are ready to quit, you can say.. this is tuff, I should quit. You can say to yourself.. Why Not keep going, Why Not keep eating healthy and exercising. What I have found in the 20+ years of studying success mindset, is that people will fall back into their ‘old pattern’ if they are not taught how to accept the new pattern they are developing.
When you set out on a new goal, take some time to look at what needs to change inside of you so you are comfortable in your new position.
Why Not Personal Development?
If you know it or not, you are developing as a person each and every day, there is no doubt about this. So you have to look at what you are going to develop on this day. To grow you will begin to look at the actions you do, sometimes with the mindset of “Why Not”… Remember in order for things to change, things have to change.
When those “things” show up in your life that are a change for you, they are things that are different than you usually do, maybe ask yourself “Why Not”?
